Live edge cabinet top

A few years ago now, my dad's best friend DJ rescued this piece of live edge cherry wood from ending up as firewood.  

It had some oil stains and other marks on it, but he was able to sand it off easily.

 

 
 

 
 
 
 
Once the wood was all cleaned up, he used a wipe-on poly for the flat sides (about twelve coats for each side) and a spray poly for the live edge.


 



 
It turned out beautifully:

 
I bought three sets of Ikea cabinets and a mini-refrigerator (one meant to go under a countertop) and cleared the space: 
 


I'm so very lucky my friend helped me put everything together, and amazingly, everything fit:


 
 
 
Don't forget to peel off the blue plastic that protects the cabinets: 


 
And voila! It fits so perfectly, it feels like it's always been there.
